I know what silk touch does but i am asking about the benefit of getting an ore than the metal. @DeMize as mentioned before - it collects the raw item. the only benefit when mining ores - at all - is to collect the ore block as a decoration. Otherwise you are wasting resources and time on cooking and smelting it.
